artist statement |
I create intuitively, and rarely begin with a finished piece in mind. I enjoy putting on my favorite music, grabbing whatever supplies and colors appeal to me in the moment and seeing what takes shape. I work on each piece over a series of sessions that can cross days, weeks or even months, layering and editing until I feel the piece is complete. I am heavily influenced by nature and enjoy interpreting landscapes using vibrant colors and unusual materials to create interest and depth.
I create because it makes me happy and keeps me centered. There is something freeing about painting without expectation or fear. In my creative process there are no mistakes, only points along the journey to the finished piece. My hope is that my paintings will inspire happiness and positivity, and encourage others to connect with their inner artist. |
